Allen Kieslich has been involved with designing structures for over 50 years. He started on his first day at Vermont Tech where he received an associate degree in civil highway technology then moved on to the State of Vermont Transportation Department’s Bridge Design Division. The aptitude and desire for physical design is genetic. Kieslich Construction Company was started by Allen’s great uncle and the largest construction company in Vermont in the early 1900’s. They built many of the larger Vermont buildings of the era, including the Bishop Degobriand Hospital, The MA Chocolate Factory and HO Wheeler school in Burlington and The Vermont State Hospital complex in Waterbury, Vermont. Allen, through KDC, has developed three Condominium home areas in suburban Burlington.

Allen admires the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, and IM Pei; loves balance in designs, not only of the structure but also the places in between. Examples of places in between would be the Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Elysees, and the US Capital Building and the DC Mall, each complements the other in scale and position.

Through the years Allen had multiple opportunities to engage his creative side in various ways. Sometimes as an avocation and others as part of his corporate or public responsibility. After his initial AAS at VTC he expanded his knowledge through the years with a BS at Northeastern University, and continued education at Boston University, Harvard and MIT.

A list below is an indication of his roles and training in design and construction throughout the years.
